Next is the controversial man cave. I have a feeling it may be the one i choose, but could also be manipulated into other areas.

  • muted colours i.e. browns and blacks, cremes, etc.
  • rustic looking, old and worn down appearance.
  • big TV
  • couches and chairs to relax in.
  • optional bar attachment.
  • animal trophy heads, and fur rugs.
  • stone and stained or polished wood.
  • good lighting, not too bright, not to dim.

An example of a meeting in a man cave. In this case, these men and the boy are meeting to watch a sports game, perhaps.
The second on my list is the gym, I will explore this in some detail.

  • an ideal gym would consist of good lighting so that its not dingy.
  • plenty of space around equipment.
  • rubber mats to protect the floor and the equipment.
  • a mirror or two
  • music to keep you interested.
  • may have to be more compact equipment to fit in a boat shed
  • perhaps some windows fitted into the shed to provide good airflow.

This photo is an example of a meeting that could potentially, and probably does happen at gyms worldwide. running on a treadmill can become rather boring after awhile and so having a chat, actually having a meeting may be worth it.

Of my five chosen 'meetings', I will be exploring all of them and deciding after research has taken place. Since cinema is first on the list, i will have a look at it first.

  • With these photos of some different cinemas around the world, i have noticed that obviously there needs to be a relaxed setting
  • there needs to be a sense of comfort whether that be in the colour of the room, how soft the chairs are, the texture of the materials on the chairs, the amount of light, and temperature.
  • the chairs need to be supportive, ergonomically designed, so that the chairs provide maximum comfort when seated in them.
  • they don't need to be chairs at all, they could be couches like the last photo, however people may be more inclined to fall asleep when lying to some time during a movie.
  • the screen needs to be big enough so that everyone can read words (if any), and other important details on screen.
  • the sound needs to fill the whole room and not have spots where sound is diminished.

In this photo, it shows how people might meet, when going to the cinema- outside or inside while they wait for tickets, or waiting to be ushered into the cinema.

More possible boat shed uses...
Boat sheds drawing through words, and more recent group thoughts on what the sheds could be used for.
Initial group ideas about the what the boat sheds could be used for.
Quick sketches of the journey from Massey to the boat sheds. Includes blind drawings also.

Drawings sketched on the way down to the boat sheds, including sketches of the sheds.
-1st drawing is of a distant view of the sheds, and includes apartment buildings beyond the sheds.
-2nd drawing is of a closer view of the sheds, trying to incorporate the line of sheds.
-3rd drawing is a blind sketch of the sheds that were a metre or so in front of me, trying to show more detail in the doors.
-4th drawing same drawing as above except we were now allowed to look at our books whilst sketching.
Photo of the boat sheds, capturing the entire series of sheds.
